In the event that a Player Character dies the player may generate a new character at current party ECL. This means that if Drozzt Di’Klurden, the dark-skinned elven ranger dies of alcohol poisoning at ECL 3 the player who played Drozzt can then bring into the game Drezzt Do’Furden the level 1 drow ranger. Alternatively, if Kiki the half-ogre werebear paladin of ECL 15 is slain in battle, rather than letting the party waste time and money resurrecting Kiki, their player can bring in (at the next moment of story convenience) Fraisure Crane the 15th level elven psion.
